Drug Rehabilitation Methods & Rehab Types

There are many methods or programs for drug or alcohol rehabilitation. The most recognized is the 12-step program (AA or NA) but there are a variety of different approaches to drug or alcohol treatments that are less known and you will read below about some of them. The variety in rehabilitation programs is important as there are so many different people from all walks of life and philosophies that one single set pattern can not work for every body. For example, NA or AA are anchored in the belief of a higher power and that the person is diseased other programs believe that addiction is a chemical imbalance or hereditary. Is one supposed to adopt a certain philosophy just because someone else asked them to?

Getting sober is not just a question of abstinence for several and you’re good to go; it is much, much more than that. A person caught up in the turmoil of substance abuse needs to take a close look at their life and the reasons behind the use of drugs and alcohol. Also in choosing a drug rehab center you need to take into account the needs, specific problems and the beliefs of the individual seeking drug treatment. There are however some drug addiction treatment programs that are known to give better results no matter what the issues mentioned above are.

Below are 12 drug rehabilitation methods, there are more than this in existence but  these are the better known forms. Please keep in mind that the government funded drug addiction centers will not deliver all of these. If you need help in choosing which drug rehabilitation program is the right one for your needs please call us today.

It also has much to do with the person’s physical condition. Drugs like Methadone, “Benzo” type medications, Morphine, Oxycontin, Percocet and other pain suppressant drugs alone or in combination may require monitoring of Blood Pressure and Heart rate to avoid seizures and other complications.
